Babyproof Quote Check

How to use it

Babyproofing quotes die on one flat per-home number. The quote prices a product list parents halve at the table, while the free assessment that books nothing, hardware swings, and the drive collapse the margin. Start with your bar (60), profit margin percent (20), minimum trip fee (150), and daily take-home goal (400). Pick a home preset: Condo, 2-story house, or Townhouse, each filling 8 product lines with cost and install minutes. The markup percent prices what you add on top of cost. The leaks card prices the signature leak: free assessment minutes times the conversion rate, because at 60 percent booking each job carries 50 minutes of unpaid assessment time; plus drive minutes, miles, setup and cleanup minutes, and a parts-run toggle doubling the drive. Results show install time, the assessment leak, drive plus setup, hardware at cost versus billed, vehicle, true cost, the recommended quote rounded up to 25 dollars, and your effective rate against your bar. The hardware-share note fires when hardware passes 40 percent of the quote. The gut check grades your instinct quote with a below-true-cost warning; the day planner turns your goal into jobs with an over-10-hour reality check. No signup; runs on your phone.

Worked example

Example only, not typical pricing. Condo preset at a $60 bar with 20 percent margin: hardware is 2 gates at $45 plus 10 latches at $3 plus 6 drawer locks at $4 plus 12 outlet covers at $1.50 plus 4 anchors at $6 plus 4 knob covers at $4 plus 8 corner guards at $2 plus 4 cord cleats at $3 equals $230. Install is 230 minutes. Assessment leak is 30 minutes divided by 60 percent equals 50 minutes. Drive plus setup is 45 minutes. Committed time is 325 minutes, or 5.42 hours at $60, which is $325. Vehicle is 24 miles at $0.67 equals $16.08. True cost is $325 plus $230 plus $16.08 equals $571.08. Recommended quote is ceil(571.08 times 1.20 divided by 25) times 25 equals $700. Effective rate is (700 minus 230 minus 16.08) divided by 5.42 equals $83.80 per hour, which clears the bar, so the verdict is PRICED RIGHT. A $500 gut quote would pay $46.88 per hour, leave $200 on the table, and sit below true cost. The day planner turns a $400 goal into 0.9 jobs and 4.8 committed hours.

FAQs

Why does the assessment leak use the conversion rate?

Only 60 percent of free assessments book. Dividing 30 minutes by 60 percent prices the no-book visits into every job that does book, instead of donating them.

What fires the hardware-share note?

Hardware above 40 percent of the quote. At that point one skipped product line means you paid to be there, so trim scope before you trim labor.

How does the parts-run toggle work?

It doubles the drive minutes and miles. One mid-job store run prices the return trip instead of donating it.

What does CLOSE, BUT LEAKING mean?

Your effective rate sits between 90 percent and 105 percent of your bar. Assessment minutes or hardware are usually the leak.

Why is the recommended quote rounded up to $25?

Flat quotes land cleaner with customers, and the rounding always moves up, never down, so the margin survives the rounding.
