Bed Bug Job Quote Check

How to use it

Bed bug operators lose money on the flat job price. One quote sounds fine until the free retreats under the guarantee, the waived inspection, multi-visit drive time, and prep guidance are priced at zero. Start with your bar (75), margin percent (20), minimum job fee ($500), and daily goal ($600). Pick a preset: 1 room chem, Multi-room chem, Whole house chem, or Heat treatment. Each fills method, rooms, treat minutes per room, visits, minutes per visit, chemical cost per room per visit, and heat equipment cost. The warranty trap card prices the expected cost of free retreats: chance percent times minutes, drive, miles, and chemical cost. The leaks card prices the inspection with a waived-if-hired checkbox, prep guidance, encasement upsell profit, an emergency toggle, and drive plus miles per visit. Results show treatment labor, visit overhead, inspection plus prep, drive, chemicals, vehicle, expected retreats, true cost, the recommended quote, and the effective rate, which is profit divided by your own hours, graded against the bar. Verdicts are PRICED RIGHT, CLOSE, BUT LEAKING, WORKING TOO CHEAP, or LOSING MONEY. The gut check grades your instinct quote; the day planner turns the goal into jobs. No signup; runs on your phone.

Worked example

Example only, not typical pricing. The Multi-room chem preset at a $75 bar: treatment labor is 3 rooms times 90 minutes times 2 visits equals 540 minutes, or $675. Visit overhead is 30 minutes times 2 visits equals 60 minutes, or $75. Inspection plus prep is 65 minutes, or $81.25. Drive is 40 minutes times 2 visits equals $100; vehicle is 60 miles at $0.67 equals $40.20. Chemicals are 3 rooms times $45 times 2 visits equals $270. Expected free retreats at 30 percent chance of 120 on-site plus 40 drive minutes at $75 plus $6.03 vehicle plus $18 chemicals equals $84.03. True cost is $1,325.48. Recommended quote is max($500, ceil(1,325.48 times 1.20 divided by 25) times 25) equals $1,600. Effective rate is $1,315.77 of profit divided by 13.2 own hours equals $99.55 per hour, over the $75 bar, so the verdict is PRICED RIGHT. The waived-inspection note fires: $125 of revenue walked away. A $1,200 gut quote pays $69.29 per hour and leaves $400 on the table. The day planner turns the $600 goal into 0.5 jobs and 6.0 hours.

FAQs

Why price retreats as a percentage instead of a visit?

A 30 percent chance of a free retreat has an expected cost you can price today. The card multiplies chance times on-site minutes, drive, miles, and chemicals.

Why does waiving the inspection get a warning?

The $125 fee you did not collect still cost you 45 minutes plus the drive. The note fires whenever the fee is waived.

When does the warranty-over-20-percent warning fire?

When expected retreats pass 20 percent of true cost. At that point the guarantee, not the job, is the margin killer.

How does the emergency premium work?

It multiplies the recommended quote by one plus the premium percent and re-rounds up to $25.

What does CLOSE, BUT LEAKING mean here?

Your effective rate lands between 90 percent and 100 percent of your bar. The drive time or the waived inspection is usually the leak.
