About these fees
Defaults verified from Etsy, Inc.'s 2026 10-K (filed February 2026): $0.20 listing fee, 6.5% transaction fee on the item price including the shipping you charge, payment processing 3.0-6.5% plus a flat per-order fee depending on your country (US default shown: 3% + $0.25), and Offsite Ads fees of 12% or 15% on sales Etsy attributes to its own advertising. Fees change - if your Payment Account shows different numbers, update the inputs above. This is an estimate for planning, not financial advice.

How to use it

Start in the listing card: the item price, the shipping you charge the buyer, what shipping actually costs you, and your materials cost per item. Then price your time honestly with hours per item and your hourly value, because skipping this is why so many listings show a profit that does not exist. The fees card comes preloaded with Etsy's current defaults, which the tool says were verified in February 2026: a 20-cent listing fee, 6.5 percent transaction fee on the item price including the shipping you charge, 3 percent plus 25 cents payment processing, and an offsite ads field you set to 0, 12, or 15 depending on how Etsy brought the buyer. Every fee number is editable, so if your Payment Account shows different rates, update them. The breakdown shows what the buyer pays, each fee line, your costs, and Etsy's total cut, ending in your profit per sale with a verdict: LOSS, LOW MARGIN under 20 percent, or HEALTHY MARGIN. Use the reverse price check at the bottom: enter the profit per sale you want, and it computes the minimum price that gets you there.

Worked example

Example only, not typical earnings. Say you sell an item for $24.99, charge no shipping, pay $5.50 to ship it, spend $8 on materials, and put in 1 hour you value at $20. The buyer pays $24.99. Fees are $0.20 listing plus 6.5 percent of $24.99 ($1.62) plus 3 percent of $24.99 plus $0.25 ($1.00), totaling about $2.82. Your costs are $8 plus $5.50 plus $20, or $33.50. Profit is $24.99 minus $2.82 minus $33.50, or about negative $11.33, so the verdict reads LOSS. Run the reverse price check with a $15 target profit and the tool iterates to about $54.09: at that price the fees land near $5.59, costs stay $33.50, and you keep $15.

FAQs

What are Etsy's fees?

The tool's editable defaults, verified February 2026: a $0.20 listing fee, 6.5 percent transaction fee on the item price including the shipping you charge, 3 percent plus $0.25 payment processing for the US, and 12 or 15 percent offsite ads fees when Etsy's advertising brings the buyer. Fees change, so check your Payment Account and update the inputs.

Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?

The transaction fee applies to the item price including the shipping you charge, per the tool's fee note. That is why free shipping is not free: the shipping cost you absorb also raises the fee base.

What is a healthy margin on Etsy?

The tool calls a margin under 20 percent LOW MARGIN and anything at or above it HEALTHY, where margin is your profit divided by what the buyer paid. Below 20 percent, one return or one fee change can erase the sale.

How do offsite ads fees work?

When Etsy's own advertising brings the buyer, Etsy takes an extra 12 or 15 percent depending on your shop. Enter 0, 12, or 15 in the offsite field based on how the sale was attributed.

How do I use the reverse price check?

Enter the profit per sale you want at the bottom, and the tool iterates to the minimum price that gets you there after all fees and costs. It is the fastest way to see whether your target profit is even reachable at a price buyers will pay.
