Presets are common starting points for a sedan in average condition. Edit everything to match your market.
Charge for what you see at the walkaround, not what the customer describes on the phone.
Pick the package preset: Express wash ($79, 1.25 hours), Interior ($149, 2.5 hours), Exterior ($129, 2 hours), or Full detail ($249, 4.5 hours). Each fills base price and hours, and both stay editable as starting points. Choose the vehicle size: Sedan adds nothing, SUV adds $25 and 0.75 hours, Truck adds $40 and 1 hour. Check the condition upcharges that apply, each with its own price and minutes: pet hair cleanup ($30, 30 min), stain removal or extraction ($40, 30 min), sand or beach cleanup ($25, 20 min), smoke or odor treatment ($50, 30 min). Check add-on services: spray ceramic or sealant ($60), engine bay detail ($50), headlight restoration ($70), one-step machine polish ($120). In your costs enter supplies, round-trip miles at $0.70 per mile, and drive time in hours. In your numbers set your target dollars per hour. The breakdown shows each line, profit per job, effective dollars per hour across job plus drive time, and the minimum price that hits your rate, with a PRICED RIGHT, CLOSE BUT LEAKING, or UNDERPRICED verdict that includes the exact raise needed. The day planner takes jobs per day and projects daily take-home with total hours.
Example only, not typical pricing. Run the Interior preset: $149, 2.5 job hours, costs $28.80, plus 0.5 hours of drive time. Total hours are 3.0, profit is $149 minus $28.80, or $120.20, so the effective rate is $120.20 over 3.0, or $40.07 per hour: CLOSE BUT LEAKING against a $50 target, and the minimum price to hit the target is $179. Now stack a job: Full detail $249 on an SUV (+$25), pet hair cleanup (+$30), smoke or odor treatment (+$50): the price is $369 with 7.0 hours committed, or $48.60 per hour effective, and the minimum price to hit a $50 target is $379. The condition upcharges are doing the heavy lifting on the quote.
**Why charge by vehicle size?**
A truck takes more product and more hours than a sedan. The SUV adds $25 and 0.75 hours, the truck adds $40 and 1 hour, so the effective hourly rate stays honest across vehicle types.
**What does CLOSE BUT LEAKING mean?**
Your effective rate sits below your target but within reach. The tool shows the minimum price that hits your rate, so you see exactly what the job should cost instead of guessing.
**How does the day planner work?**
Enter jobs per day and it projects daily take-home with total hours committed, including drive time. It is the check on whether your per-job prices actually produce the day you want.
**Do travel costs really change the answer?**
Yes. Miles at $0.70 per mile plus drive time in the hour count are what make a $149 job look like $50 per hour when it is really $40.07. Mobile work is won or lost on the windshield time.
**Are the package prices market rates?**
No. They are editable starting points. Set base prices and hours from your own jobs and your own costs before quoting real customers.
