Price mobile mechanic jobs so the van gets paid too. Free, no signup.
Mobile mechanic jobs die when the quote only covers the wrench time. The call-out, the dead miles, the parts run, the unbilled diagnostic, and the texting back and forth all ride along for free. Start with your bar (90), minimum job fee ($100), margin percent (15), and a daily goal ($500). Pick a preset: Brake pads, Oil service, Battery, Diag plus repair, each filling wrench minutes, parts cost, markup, diagnostics, drive, miles, and admin minutes as editable starting points. The leaks card takes the call-out fee with a waived checkbox, diagnostic minutes with a rolled-into-repair toggle, round-trip drive minutes, miles at your vehicle cost, parts-run minutes, and admin minutes. Results show real minutes committed, service time valued at your bar, vehicle cost, parts at your cost and at markup, true cost, the recommended quote (cost plus margin, rounded up to $25, never below the minimum), and your effective hourly rate against your bar. Verdicts are PRICED RIGHT, CLOSE, BUT LEAKING, WORKING TOO CHEAP, or LOSING MONEY. The gut check grades your instinct quote with below-bar and below-cost warnings; the day planner turns your goal into jobs with an over-10-hour reality check. No signup; runs on your phone.
Example only, not typical pricing. Brake pads preset at a $90 bar with 15 percent margin: 90 wrench minutes, $80 parts at 25 percent markup, 40 drive minutes, 30 miles at $0.67, 20 parts-run minutes, 15 admin minutes, $50 call-out charged. Real minutes committed are 90 + 40 + 20 + 15 = 165, or 2.75 hours. Service time value is 2.75 x 90 = $247.50; vehicle cost is 30 x $0.67 = $20.10. True cost is $247.50 + $20.10 + $80 = $347.60. Recommended quote is max(100, ceil(347.60 x 1.15 / 25) x 25) = $400. Effective rate is ($400 - $80 - $20.10) / 2.75 = $109.05 per hour, which clears the bar, so the verdict is PRICED RIGHT. A $200 gut quote would pay $36.33 per hour, trigger the below-bar and below-true-cost warnings, and leave $200 on the table. The day planner turns $52.40 of profit per job into 9.5 jobs and 26.2 hours for a $500 goal, which fires the over-10-hour reality check: raise the quote instead of adding jobs.
Why does the tool value all my time at my bar?
Drive, parts runs, diagnostics, and admin all happen at your hourly rate whether the customer pays for them or not. Valuing everything at your bar shows the true cost before margin; anything below that is a donation.
Should I waive the call-out fee?
The waived checkbox shows the giveaway as a line item: the customer gets the call-out value for free and your effective rate drops. Waive it as a closer when the job margin can carry it, not as a habit.
What is the rolled-diagnostic toggle?
Diagnostics rolled into the repair are skilled work at zero revenue. The toggle prices them as unbilled minutes so the repair has to cover them, or you add a diagnostic charge.
How is parts markup treated?
Your parts cost is in true cost at cost; the breakdown also shows parts at your markup price so you can see the margin on parts separately from the margin on labor.
What does the leak note do?
It narrates the giveaways: a waived call-out, rolled diagnostics, and the dead-mile vehicle cost. It is the part of the page to read before you send the quote.
