Safe Move Quote Check

How to use it

Safe moves die on a flat phone number. A $300 quote for a 450-pound safe sounds fine until the stairs, the second set of hands, the truck miles, and the anchor job get priced at zero. Start with your bar (75), margin percent (15), minimum job fee ($150), and daily goal ($600). Pick a safe preset: Handgun/small, Gun safe, or TL-rated beast, each filling weight and move minutes as editable starting points. Add stair flights with a per-flight fee, or a tight-access toggle that slows the move. The work card prices bolt-down anchoring and old-safe removal with extra minutes and hard costs. Getting there counts round-trip drive, miles at a heavy-truck per-mile rate, helper hours, and equipment wear for dollies and stair climbers. Results show your move time, time value, vehicle, helper, equipment, and hard costs, true cost, the recommended quote (cost plus margin, rounded up to $25, never below the minimum), and your effective rate over own plus drive hours. Verdicts are PRICED RIGHT, CLOSE, BUT LEAKING, WORKING TOO CHEAP, or LOSING MONEY. The gut check grades your instinct quote; the day planner turns your goal into jobs. No signup; runs on your phone.

Worked example

Example only, not typical pricing. Gun safe preset at a $75 bar with 15 percent margin: 450 lbs, 75 move minutes, 1 stair flight at a $75 fee, 30 extra minutes, 40 drive minutes, 30 miles at $0.90, 1.5 helper hours at $25, $20 equipment, $40 hard costs. Your move time is (75 + 45 + 30) / 60 = 2.5 hours, valued at $187.50. Vehicle is $27, helper is $37.50. True cost is $187.50 + $27 + $37.50 + $20 + $40 = $312. Recommended quote is max(150, ceil((312 x 1.15 + 75) / 25) x 25) = $450, with the stair fee priced into the quote. Effective rate is $450 / 3.17 = $142.11 per hour over own plus drive hours, which clears the bar, so the verdict is PRICED RIGHT. A $300 gut quote would pay about $95 per hour and leave $150 on the table. The day planner turns $138 of profit per job into 4.3 jobs and 13.8 hours for a $600 goal: heavy days add up, so raise the quote instead of stacking more safes.

FAQs

Why does the stair fee sit outside true cost?

It is a fee priced into the quote after margin, so the customer pays for the strain directly instead of burying it inside your hourly line.
