Roof Wash Quote Check

How to use it

Roof quotes die on one flat per-sqft number. Market quotes swing 30 to 75 cents per sq ft on the same size roof because algae, pitch, and stories change the hours, and plant protection is the unpaid half hour operators never bid. Start with your bar (75), profit margin percent (20), minimum job fee (350), and daily take-home goal (600). Pick a roof preset: Ranch 1,800, 2-story 2,500, or Complex 3,200, each filling sq ft, algae level, pitch, stories, and spray minutes per 100 sq ft. The algae select multiplies spray time and chemical gallons; pitch multiplies spray time; stories add setup minutes. The leaks card prices mix gallons times cost per gallon, plant protection minutes, drive time plus miles, setup and teardown, and a second-treatment pass toggle for heavy growth. Results show spray time, plant protection, setup, drive, mix, vehicle, true cost, the recommended quote rounded up to 25 dollars with the minimum floor, dollars per sq ft, and your effective rate. Verdicts are PRICED RIGHT, CLOSE, BUT LEAKING, WORKING TOO CHEAP, or LOSING MONEY. The gut check grades your instinct price; the day planner turns your goal into roofs. No signup; runs on your phone.

Worked example

Example only, not typical pricing. Ranch preset at a $75 bar with 20 percent margin: spray time is 1,800 divided by 100 times 8 minutes times 1.3 algae times 1.0 pitch equals 187.2 minutes, plus 30 plant protection plus 30 setup equals 247.2 site minutes, plus 40 drive equals 287.2 minutes, or 4.79 hours at $75, which is $359 of labor. Mix is 40 gallons times 1.3 algae equals 52 gallons at $1.75 equals $91. Vehicle is 30 miles at $0.67 equals $20.10. True cost is $359 plus $91 plus $20.10 equals $470.10. Recommended quote is max(350, ceil(470.10 times 1.20 divided by 25) times 25) equals $575, or $0.32 per sq ft. Effective rate is (575 minus 91 minus 20.10) divided by 4.79 equals $96.92 per hour, which clears the bar, so the verdict is PRICED RIGHT. A $0.25 per-sqft gut quote would total $450, pay $70.81 per hour, sit below your bar, and leave $125 on the table. The day planner turns $104.90 of profit per roof into 5.7 roofs and 27.4 committed hours for a $600 goal, firing the over-10-hour flag: raise the quote or split the day.

FAQs

Why does the algae select change chemical gallons, not just time?

The mix volume scales with the algae multiplier: 40 gallons at light becomes 52 at moderate and 68 at heavy. Skip the toggle and you underprice both the hours and the product.

What does the plant protection leak note mean?

When plant protection minutes exceed drive minutes, the tool says so. Pre-wetting and rinsing the landscaping is a priced line, not a courtesy you bury in the quote.

When does the second treatment pass toggle matter?

On heavy moss and lichen (1.7 algae), the tool doubles down with a 1.6x spray multiplier. Skip the toggle and the tool warns the callback is free.

What does CLOSE, BUT LEAKING mean?

Your effective rate sits between 70 percent and 100 percent of your bar. Chemical cost, pitch, or plant minutes are usually the leak.

Why does the planner fire the over-10-hour flag at 5.7 roofs?

Hours scale with the quote. 27.4 committed hours for a $600 goal means two days or a higher quote, not five roofs in one day.
