Wash Quote Check

How to use it

Pressure washing quotes die on the per-square-foot rate. A $0.25 per-square-foot number looks fine until chemicals, drive time, setup and teardown, and two-story ladder work quietly eat the margin, so this calculator prices the job from every cost line instead. Start with your bar: the minimum dollars per hour you will work for (75), a minimum job fee ($149), and a profit margin percent (20). Pick a preset: Driveway (600 sqft at $0.25), House wash, Deck, Roof soft wash, or Fence, each filling square footage, rate, wash and setup minutes, and chemical cost as editable starting points. Enter chemicals and water per job, and tick the two-story box for ladder work, which adds 50 percent to every labor minute. The getting-there card takes round-trip drive minutes, miles, and vehicle cost per mile, because drive time counts as work. Results show a line-item breakdown, true cost, and the recommended quote: the highest of the square-foot price, cost plus margin, and your minimum fee, rounded up to $25. The verdict grades your effective hourly rate, and the gut check grades the quote you would have given. No signup; runs on your phone.

Worked example

Example only, not typical pricing. Driveway preset at a $75 bar: 600 sqft x $0.25 = $150 base. Labor is 90 wash plus 30 setup = 120 minutes = 2 hours x $75 = $150.00. Drive is 40 minutes at $75 = $50.00, vehicle cost is 30 x $0.67 = $20.10, chemicals are $15. True cost = 150 + 50 + 20.10 + 15 = $235.10. With a 20 percent margin: 235.10 x 1.20 = $282.12, and the minimum fee is $149, so the recommended quote is the highest of the three, rounded up to $300. Effective rate = (300 - 15 - 20.10) / 2 = $132.45 per hour, which clears the bar, so the verdict is PRICED RIGHT. A $200 gut quote pays (200 - 15 - 20.10) / 2 = $82.45 per hour, which is under true cost, so it fires LOSING MONEY, $35 under true cost. A $600 daily goal at $64.90 profit per job needs 9.23, rounded up to 10 jobs, which is 26.7 committed hours, so the tool flags anything over 10 hours.

FAQs

**Q** Why does the tool charge me for my own drive time?

Because the job starts when you leave the house. A 40-minute round trip at your $75 rate is $50 of your day, and pricing the wash alone undervalues every job you drive to.

**Q** What should my per-square-foot rate be?

It depends on your market and your bar. Enter your rate and the tool compares the square-foot price to true cost, which is labor, drive, vehicle cost, and chemicals. The verdict tells you whether the rate holds.

**Q** How does the two-story toggle change the quote?

It adds 50 percent to every labor minute for ladder setup and reach time. Turn it on for house washes and roof work and watch the recommended quote climb, because the extra time is real.

**Q** Why does the recommended quote use the highest of three numbers?

Because each one protects something different. The square-foot price covers market pricing, cost plus margin covers your costs, and the minimum fee covers small jobs. Whichever is highest is the one that keeps you paid.

**Q** What is the day planner for?

It turns your daily take-home goal into jobs, committed hours, and a reality check. If hitting the goal takes over 10 hours, the tool tells you to book bigger jobs, not more jobs.
