Steps
Heat the oven to 375°F. Line two baking sheets with parchment.
Whisk the flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
Beat the butter with the brown sugar and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, 2-3 minutes.
Beat in the eggs and vanilla until smooth.
Mix in the dry ingredients until just combined, then fold in the chocolate chips.
Scoop 2-tbsp mounds of dough onto the sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
Bake 9-11 minutes, until the edges are set and golden but the centers still look slightly underdone.
Sprinkle with the flaky salt if using. Cool on the pan 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack.
